Creative writing is considered to be any writing, fiction, poetry, or non-fiction, that goes outside the bounds of normal professional, journalistic, academic, and technical forms of literature. Works which fall into this category include novels, epics, short stories, and poems. Writing for the screen and stage, screenwriting and playwriting respectively, typically have their own programs of study, but fit under the creative writing category as well.

The purpose is to express something, whether it be feelings, thoughts, knowledge or emotions.

Fiction, poetry and non-fiction are all examples of creative writing.

1. Writing to entertain – Novels, poetry, fiction, non-fiction etc
2. Writing to educate – biographies, autobiographies, articles, reviews etc
3. Professional form of writing – Letters, advertisements, analysis etc

This workshop of 6 session will try to highlight different types of creative writing formats with few examples. The course will also emphasises on do’s and don’ts of creative writing and the creative format to write your thoughts with planning.

The course will touch upon the important strategies to manage creative writing aspect of your exams.
